FAQ

For the sheepish ones, here are some frequently asked questions :)
What kind of camera do you use?
I currently use the Nikon D700. I waited more than I should have to upgrade to it (my advice: don’t do that). For every day use, or during trips where I don’t want to lug around a heavy backpack, I use a Canon Powershot G10.
I use these prime lenses: the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D, the AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D and the Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AI-s (circa 1977). I also have the Lensbaby Composer - its a FUN lens!
What do you do for a living?
During the day I work as an engineer in the aircraft interiors industry. I’ve worked on both private and commercial aircrafts. It is an interesting field where one deals a lot with the customer experience. At night, I morph into this artsy woman…the one who reports back on Life of Phi :)
What is your best example of art mixed with engineering?
The Eiffel Tower. It’s beautiful!
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
If we’re talking big city, it would definitely be Paris. If not, almost anywhere along the Mediterranean Sea.
What are some of your biggest indulgences?
Creme brulee and tiramisu from Bottega. Vacations with my sisters and girlfriends. Massages. Time for myself.
What do you do to de-stress?
I’ll catch up on magazines like British Vogue or Wallpaper while sipping a frothy latte. I also love to dive into a good book. I’ll get a massage or work out at the gym and treat myself to a steam bath afterwards. Then go sleep in a park under a sunny sky. Hmmm :)
Who or what are you inspired by?
Please see my list of inspirations (the list continuously grows but these are my favorites and classics) on my website here.
Why do you have a second blog entitled Life of Phi² ?
I created a second blog in September 2010 mainly because I wanted to have a platform that would be a cross between my Portfolio and this blog. Also, I was dying to showcase my photos in a BIG way. Eventually, I fell in love with Fotojournal’s simple templates, after testing out a few others.
The way I see it: my Portfolio is somewhat static, changing ever so slowly. Life of Phi is the dynamic place where I muse and share things. Finally, Life of Phi² is simply photos: big, beautiful and silent. It’s a true photoblog. You won’t find any chit chat there!
